The need for a Islamic centre to cater for various needs of Muslim in this area has been felt for over a decade. Alhamdulillah, with the grace of Allah, the community was able to purchase the land from the local authority for a discounted value in 2013 and have obtained the full planning permission in Awarded the contract to SHAYLOR group who has started the building work on site in March 2015 The detail plan is drawn with the intention to complete over next 6 months, i.e. by Aug 2015 The total building cost is approx. £1.1million, the charity has a cash balance of £367k together with pledges of £100k, however local communities are finding difficult to raise the balance of £633k and we seek donation from you brothers, sisters and organisations. Islamic Centre Milton Keynes Charity Reg. No Introduction Milton Keynes is a new city located 50 miles north of London and is also equidistant from Birmingham, Leicester, Oxford, and Cambridge. It was in the late 90’s migrant Muslim communities from different nationalities including Sri Lankans started to move towards this city. As years went by the number increased substantially. At present, the Muslim community is spread through out Milton Keynes but there is a limited number of Mosque or community centres to fulfil their basic needs of their religious and community activities. These community centres are either north or south of MK leaving a vacuum in central Milton Keynes, which has significant Muslim population and is growing in numbers faster than other local areas. As there isn’t a permanent facility to conduct five time prayers and other Islamic activities, we have been hiring church halls, schools and other local centres for Friday Jummah prayers, Quran class, Tharaweeh and other activities. In 2004, the Sri Lankan Muslim community decided to set up a charity that ultimately aims to create an Islamic centre to satisfy the needs of the diverse mix of Muslim communities in central Milton Keynes, which includes Bengali, Pakistani, Somali and Arab origin along with those of Sri Lankan origin. 5

Islamic Centre Milton Keynes Charity Reg. No Current need for a Islamic Centre To perform five times congregational prayers, Jummah, special events such as Iftar, Taraweeh prayers and Eid gatherings. Conduct Quran classes and Islamic education for Children and Adults To learn and advance in Arabic and English languages Provide Muslims and non-Muslims with an opportunity to learn and understand multi faith and culture through dialogue, discussion and social interaction. Centre for youth: Mentor younger generation Organising sporting activities Conferences, seminars and discussions 6

Islamic Centre Milton Keynes Charity Reg. No Our aim Facilitate prayers We all know that Salah is a pillar of Islam and on the Day of Judgement the account for the prayers will have to be rendered first. The Quran and hadith state the importance of performing Salah with congregation “And bow your head with those who bow (in worship)” (Surah Baqarah 43) The Holy Prophet has also stated: “It better to join another person and pray than to pray alone and it is more superior in the company of two men and the bigger the congregation the more liked it is by Allah.” (Abu Dawûd) We have been performing all prayers and the activities below in temporary locations as we don’t have a permanent place: Daily congregational prayer are offered in small places Jummah prayer Eid prayers & Eid Celebration Tharaweeh prayers Annual Iftar and Tharaweeeh arrangements Your donation will help us to have a permanent centre for our prayers 7

Islamic Centre Milton Keynes Charity Reg. No Our aim Quran Class and Islamic education Being Muslims, it is the most important responsibility of all parents to educate our children in a proper way. If parents do not enable their kids to get proper Quran and Islamic education, they shall be responsible for it. Moreover, education of our children is the education of our future generation. It is our intention to teach Quran recitation, Quran memorization, Quran learning with Tajweed and basic Qaida to children. Our Quran tutors are fully qualified and fluent in Arabic and English along with knowledge of teaching Quran with Tafseer and tajweed. We envisage an established centre that will educate Children from a young age in a well structured manner so that a child is guided through their life with in- depth Islamic knowledge. Please donate generously 8

Islamic Centre Milton Keynes Charity Reg. No Children Activities A message from children !!!! The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, “The Quran and its people who applied it, will be brought on the day of resurrection preceded with surah Al-Baqarah and surah Al-Imran arguing on behalf of those who applied him Today we don’t have a proper place and we, the children, move from house to house to learn. We don’t have the facility to learn an Islamic education other than reading from books Your generous donation will make a difference to our future Please donate generously 9

Islamic Centre Milton Keynes Charity Reg. No Community Activities Iftar and Tharaweeh The Iftar activity and prayer take place in a school hall, this programme has faced numerous difficulties over the last 6 years A CENTRE WILL DEFINITELY HELP US Please donate generously 10
