Maintain equipment and software ICASAS306A PART B: Practical Exercise/Evidence ICASAS306A Learning Outcomes 01 Determine and undertake required equipment maintenance 02 Diagnose and repair faults 03 Update documentation and make recommendations for future maintenance

Maintain equipment and software ICASAS306A – Assessment Part B (continued) Exercise 1: a. Create a list including five (5) hardware components that are evident on the computer network. b. Create a list of the software being utilised including the operating system, word processing software and shared file structures. c. List the procedures that may be required to maintain the listed hardware and software including the suggested personnel to complete the maintenance. d. Create a list of instructions/checklist to assist with the completion of these maintenance steps. ICASAS306A 1

Maintain equipment and software ICASAS306A Assessment Part B (continued) Exercise 2 a. Complete the maintenance steps outlined in Exercise 1. b. Complete a maintenance log/report for each process undertaken. c. Identify a current or potential problem arising from the maintenance procedures undertaken. ICASAS306A 2

Maintain equipment and software ICASAS306A Assessment Part B (continued) Exercise 3 a. Create a problem report for the network manager outlining the problem identified in Exercise 2. The report should include the following: 1. Outline of problem identified. 2. Diagnosis steps to be undertaken. 3. Proposed resolution steps. 4. OH&S influences to be adhered to. 5. Historical data that may be analysed as part of the resolution procedure. 6. Future preventative maintenance steps that may reduce chance of reoccurrence. ICASAS306A 3

Maintain equipment and software ICASAS306A Assessment Part B (continued) Exercise 4 a. Complete the tasks outlined in Exercise 3 including: 1. Diagnosis steps. 2. Acquisition of necessary components required to resolve problem. 3. Problem resolution. 4. Testing procedures to ensure successful problem resolution. It is assumed that the completion of some of these steps partially meet the criteria 1.3, 2.6 and 3.3 where referral to an appropriate person is required. ICASAS306A 4
