FORGIVENESS & Readings Mathew 5: Genesis 50:15 – 21 Reconciliation By Charles G. Kamau
Mathew 5: If you murder – You face judgment If you are angry – you still face judgment If you hold your brother in contempt/ Disrespect – You face judgment
In the eyes of God there is no small sin & no big sin If you commit these sins and any other that will lead you to judgment – Its safer not offer sacrifice (1 Samuel 15: 22) – God does not delight in offerings {obedience}
For you to offer acceptable sacrifice, first reconcile with your brother - Verse 23 & 24 Forgiving and seeking forgiveness is one way of reconciliation
Mathew 5:25 – 26 Settle matters with your adversary before he takes to court If you have a debt – Pay If you have wronged some one– Ask for forgiveness If you have been wronged - Forgive
Genesis 50: Before Jacob died he gave instruction that Joseph forgives his brothers John 1:12 – those who believed in him, he gave them right to become sons of God – God is their father
Likewise God (our father) is commanding us to forgive our brothers just as Jacob commanded his son Joseph Ephesians 4:32Forgive for Colossians 3: 13 you were Mathew 6:14forgiven
Forgiveness enhances our relationship with God and with men Somebody has said there are only two kinds of people in the world. There are those who wake up in the morning and say, “Good morning, Lord”, and there are those who wake up in the morning and say, “Good Lord, it’s morning!”
Our duty as Christians to forgive
