Cells the way of Life By: Jennifer Kincaid Samantha Urias Samantha Williams

Cellular Membrane This helps protect the cell from outside hazards. It does to important tasks for the cell. One is signal transduction which helps the cell figure out where it is and what type of cell it is, and two being selectively permeable, which means it allows only necessary item in the cell.

Mitochondria Are the energy source for the cell they help in the production on ATP and contain cristae which help in this production

Vacuoles Are from part of the cellular membrane and help in the moving in or out of different components for the cell.

Glogi Apparatus Is the packaging plant of the cell it is where different cell products are packaged in for safe transport to their final location.

Ribosomes Are made up of RNA and different proteins. They are found in the cytoplasm and on the Rough ER.

Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum Is spotted with ribosomes making it look rough. It helps in the synthesis of proteins

Smooth endoplasmic Reticulum Is made up of a fluid like membrane with a tubular transport system. The smooth ER helps in the production or synthesis of lipids.

Lysosomes Lysosomes are the garbage disposals on the cell. They contain powerful enzymes that help break up old cell parts.

Nucleus The nucleus is the “Grand Central Station” of the cell. It is were the different organelles are told what to do. It is made up of a nuclear membrane, a nucleolus, and chromatin.

Neurons come in many different shapes and sizes some cells are as small as 4 microns( a micron 1 thousandth or a millimeter.) wide while some are 100 microns wide. But don’t forget these cells still contain organelles and Undergo many of the came processes that other cell do, such as protein synthesis And energy production. The Golgi apparatus was discovered 107 years ago in 1898 by Camillo Golgi.

Nerve cell or neurons have specialized parts like dendrites and axons. Dendrites bring information to the cell and axons take information away From the cell. These cells communicate using electrochemical processes.
