Progress, data and achievement Starter questions - True or False? 1.A student who arrives with a level 4 is expected to get a B 2.KS2 levels are not used to measure subjects other than English and maths 3.In 2016 the 5 GCSE A*-C measure will no longer be used 4.Nationally 60% of students make at least 3 levels progress KS2-4 and 40% make 4 levels progress

Rates of progress and MEG’s 1.MEG will be the minimum expected grade for each student based on their KS2 entry profile 2.We would expect all staff and students to aim for higher – a MEG is not a target! 3.MEG’s are directly linked to Raise online and the transition matrices for expected progress 4.In the raise online library you can see how 40 different subjects are measured by the DFE 5.MEG’s will be linked to progress reports, parents evenings, PLC’s, appraisal, DFE, OFSTED

Flight path and MEG We are aiming for each student to make two sub-levels of progress each year so that they meet their MEG

9 Overview of KS4 accountability reforms 5A*-C replaced by ‘Progress 8’ for floor standards Additional reporting of – ‘Attainment 8’ – Maths and English – Ebacc – Other valid qualifiactions Double weighting of maths and English in Progress 8 and Attainment 8 New approach applies to all for 2016 results (2014 cohort) Moving our system to expected and more than expected progress prepares us for Progress 8 and how students will be measured from their starting points in all subjects

GROUP 3 ‘Open group’ Remaining Ebacc qualifications and other approved qualifications (GCSEs and other approved academic, arts or vocational qualifications) GROUP 2 Ebacc qualifications (sciences, computer science, geography, history and languages) GROUP 1 English: Double weighted* Maths: Double weighted *Higher score of English Language or English Literature double weighted if a student has taken both qualifications Progress 8 explained
