Why a Marie Curie fellowship? Early-stage researchers – less than 4 years (full-time) research experience and no PhD Experienced researchers – more than 4 years (full-time) research experience or PhD

Individual fellowships International Outgoing Fellowships for career development (IOF) To reinforce the international dimension of the career of European researchers 12 to 24 months in a third country Compulsory return for 12 months in EU/AC Contract with return institution For nationals of EU/AC

Individual fellowships International Incoming Fellowships (IIF) To reinforce the scientific excellence of MS/AS with incoming to Europe top-class researchers from TC 12-24 months period in MS/AC Any nationals coming from outside Europe (at least 3 years in a TC) Possible return phase to country of origin (12 months)

EU contributions 2010 Gross amounts for ER (individual fellowships) Living allowance*: € 56 400 per year (with 4-10 years experience) € 84 500 per year (with > 10 years experience) Mobility allowance*: € 500 or 800 per month Travel allowance: € 250 to 2500 per year Career exploratory allowance : € 2000 for IEF Research/training/networking costs : € 500-800 per researcher-month Overheads and Management : € 700 per researcher-month (up to 20% total direct costs) Fellows’ expenses Hosts’ expenses *Correction Coefficients apply

Writing your proposal Main mistakes/weak points Some tips … Fellow´s skills to carry out the project are not convincing Referee´s assessment is not positive for the applicant Publication record is low, no peer reviewed journals Poor explanation and justification of the state-of-the-art Project is too ambitious (time frame of the project!)
