Pronouns
These are substitutes for nouns Examples: Barack Obama delivered an acceptance speech in Chicago when he was chosen as the democratic nominee. I hope that you will enjoy English class and learn a lot from it.
Personal pronouns 1 st person – I, me, we, us, our 2 nd person – you, your 3 rd person – he, she, him, her, they, them FYI – when writing an essay – only 3 rd person should be used. 1 st and 2 nd person are not acceptable.
Examples of personal pronouns I went to the store to buy milk. Jamie and her best friend went to the movies. Barry and he took horseback riding lessons together.
Indefinite pronouns Singular – another, anybody, anyone, anything, one, each, either, everyone, everybody, everything, neither, nobody, no one, someone, somebody Plural – both, many, few, several Singular or plural – all, some, none, most, any
Examples of indefinite Some of the cookies were gone. Anyone can learn to skate. Somebody stole my Ipod.
