Week 12 CAD/CAM Matakuliah: Mechatronics 2 Tahun: 2005 Versi: 1.0/0

Learning Outcomes By the end of this session, students will have a general understanding of CAD/CAM, computer numerical control, and robot applications.

The Design Process Recognition of the needs. Problem definition. Synthesis. Analysis and optimization. Evaluation Presentation.

The Application of Computers for Design Geometric modeling Engineering analysis Review and evaluation of the design. Automated drafting.

CAD Benefits Productivity improvement. Reducing lead time. Greater accuracy in calculations. The use of common data base during the design and manufacturing process will improve procedures for engineering changes.

Computer Numerical Control (CNC) “Computer numerical control is an NC system that utilizes a dedicated stored program computer to perform some or all of the basic numerical control functions” 1). It is often refered to “soft wired”. Reprogramming the unit provide flexibility and improving product varieties. 1) Groover, MP and Zimmers Jr E.W.

Robot Applications Material transfer. Machine loading. Assembly. Inspection.
