Housekeeping about conference availability Bring questions about researching to library workshop on Thurs Revise your literacy narrative

What are the main arguments in these? Spend 10 minutes –Write a concise summary of main argument –Consider the rhetorical strategies –Is this an effective piece? Jewett Carson

Working with Reading Responses Talking about what “They Say” Task: Look at your classmates’ response papers and consider how they discuss the writing of others. Do they summarize concisely? Do they integrate and introduce the ideas of others into their own response? Do they consider the rhetorical strategies of the writers they talk about? Apply these principles to your own response papers

What’s your story? What has contributed to your development as a reader, writer, or thinker? (10 min freewrite) 1. What are some of the earliest encounters you remember with language, written or verbal? Why do you think you remember them? 2. Think of a time you were proud of or embarrassed by your ability to communicate. Why? Who was involved? 3. Did you ever say or write something and later wished you hadn’t? Explain the circumstances and the outcome. Return to your literacy narrative and revise it for next class. See assignment specifics on the website.
