What is the future of medicine?

Doc Brown is going to take you 50 years into the future in his DeLorean. What do you think medicine will be like then?

What else will be different?...

What will the buildings look like?

What will the cars look like?

What will holidays be like?

What will our homes look like?

What will technology be like?

What will our celebrities look like?!!

What about medicine?.... What will we be able to do? What diseases will we be able to cure? Will people live for longer? Will we need drugs anymore? Will there still be doctors?

Before we can forecast the future of medicine we need to get an understanding of what we mean by ‘medicine’ Which of these pictures represents medicine to you?

A weather forecaster wouldn’t be able to predict the weather in the future unless she had a good understanding of what weather is!

So before we investigate the future of medicine we first need to establish… WHAT IS MEDICINE?
