Wrapping up A.Hasman

Hospital automation

First day Information systems –Current approaches and future trends Dutch healthcare information structure –Standardization, unique patient identifier –Takes a long time

Second day Implementation of ISs –Success and failure factors are important to consider but are not causal –Take into account of both social and technical aspects –CPOE: it can prevent errors but also introduce different errors –Telemedicine: first think carefully about the application and use a pilot to check that it works Standardization, Data reuse Patient safety

Third day Evaluation of information systems –Evaluate not only at the end but during the whole life cycle; use triangulation Evaluation of quality of care –Use structure, process and outcome measures; internal quality indicators

Fourth/fifth day Decision support –Guideline implementation has to be supported by computer systems, advice has to be patient specific Examples of decision support systems Terminology systems –Can contribute to structured and detailed recording of patient data Health Level –Enables semantic operability between systems

We thank: The organizers: the conference was organized perfectly –The technicians who supported us –The ones who provided us with drinks and snacks –The interpreter Mrs. Mohamedi You, the audience for your interest, questions and friendliness!

Thank you for listening to us!
