Modeling a Focus “A leader is best when people barely know he exists; when his work is done, his aim fulfilled, they will say: We did it ourselves.” —Lao Tzu Q: What do our students need to be able to do to succeed on the state tests, in their classes, and in life beyond high school? A: Read challenging passages and complex nonfiction, write a lot, solve multistep problems, explain their thinking, support their point of view with evidence, etc.
