External Research Projects’ funding The EU-FP6 funding share made at maximum 25-30% of the universities’ external research budget / incoming (Lausanne - CH being a special case) Although the numbers of running research projects among the universities show an enormous range from 40 to (!): the EU-FP6 participation share is in comparison quite homogenous the EU-FP6 number of co-ordinations per university is quite low (administrative difficulties? non-existing professional management resources?) the EU “impact” in general is quite low

Ongoing discussions in many institutions with respect to incentive and support measures such as professional-team support to project preparation and submission financial support for coordinators (project management)

Many universities are in the process of defining a strategy for the participation in the EU 7th Frame Program (only 3 strict “No”), however only a few implemented Large majority of universities encourage coordinations of FP7-projects
