Outline Concept Uses of Query Types of Query Demo How to select features in ArcView

Uses of Query enables you to find specific geographic features that interest you or meet certain important criteria e.g. area with high percentage of mortality? e.g. area with no aquifer? e.g. area with HH income level less than 20K? e.g. area underserved by medical service

Types of Query Query over one theme By location By attributes Query over the spatial relationships between themes (spatial overlay)

Selecting features by location the Select Feature tool Point at theme or draw the selection box Hold shift key to add selection To unselect features, click again while holding shift key the Select Features Using Graphic Draw a graphic using the Draw tool, and then find the features that intersect the graphic
