Superloki Rocket

Project Definition  Design and build a payload for a rocket that will be entertaining to high school children participating in the “Rockets for Schools” program.

Project Goals  Relay video from the payload of the rocket as it descends from an altitude of 185,000ft.  Slow down the descent of the payload, in order to obtain more information than on prior launches.

Realizing Real-Time Pictures  Three Possible Options:  Analog Video  Digital Still Images  Digital Video

Analog Video  SSTV (Slow Scan Television) –Defined Software  A/D Conversion –Microcontroller –External RAM Needed –User Defined Protocol  Physical Size Issues

Hardware Schematic

Software Flow Chart

Parachute Design  Parachute Development  Mylar

Design Constraints  Weight (1.5 pound maximum)  Size (1.2 inch diameter by 12 inches)  Power Consumption (1 Watt maximum)  Pressure, G-Forces, and Temperature  Parachute Issues –Stress Test on Cords –Light and Durable –Enclosed Volume
