Graphical Ontology Viewer/Editor Gary Yngve

Goals Easy to use, interactive Hide most of the ontology Keep user aware of what transformations have been done Undo

Basic Architecture Reference Ontology Modification Layer Visualization cache

Features Navigation / transformation with mouse –left button navigates, right button transforms –popup menus for making choices Query window for more powerful tasks –transitive closure, workspace for chaining operations Search window for trying to align terms –uses lucene on FMA

Use Case: RADLEX many terms exactly match some different partitioning (regional parts not in FMA) much smaller in size than FMA

Idioms Common ontology modifications For example: –dissecting a vessel prox/dist –eliminating parts and promoting their relationships to the whole –building a set of items Semantics well-defined?

Other stuff Filtering non-class slots Viz multiple relation types at once Selective partitioning Degree of importance filtering Shorthand for names Gestures / lasso

DEMO!

Aligning, prompt Jambalaya. Doesn’t transform, size limit
