Research Background New Transportation Planning Approach Accessibility Mobility Technology Travel Demand Management Low cost strategies

Congestion Index Real time information of traffic congestion on main roads using on board positioning system devices (bus system).

Current Research at UC Berkeley Main objective: identify viable urban public transport strategies to be considered in the case of “emerging” countries, aiming at improving the transport system performance and consequently increase its use and optimization. Background: analysis, discussion and comparison of some data and aspects related to economy, public policies, national political strategies and goals, transportation, land use, socio-economic and cultural similarities (and differences) of emerging countries such as Brazil and China. Expected Results: in-depth analysis of possible public transport strategies based on accessibility and mobility concepts, commonly applicable to both countries (and consequently possibly applicable to other emerging countries) trying to respond to the main objective of the research project.
