$100 Who decides what assistive technology is appropriate for the student? It is an IEPT decision. The team making the decision must have knowledge and experience in relation to the intervention devices and services.

$100 The student has AT equipment in place but the family wants the updated version. Are the goals set for the student being met under the current interventions? What consultants/parents may want may not ultimately be necessary to meet the student’s needs.

$100 How do I know if a student should even be referred for AT? The question is not of referral, but of consideration. All students eligible to receive special education must be considered for AT.

$100 How will I learn to use this AT? It is the responsibility of the district to provide training and on- going technical assistance to all personnel and family members.

$100 Can the student take the AT device home? If it is determined by the IEP team that it is necessary for home use it must be written in the IEP.
