Information Services What is referencing? In academic writing, “referencing” is: acknowledging a direct source of information used (e.g. a quotation); or acknowledging a source of supportive information used.

Information Services Two parts of referencing… Citations Citations are “in-text” references, e.g.: From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The hip bone is a large, flattened, irregularly shaped bone, constricted in the center and expanded above and below (Gray, H., 1910).
