Recording Product Forms Basic Concepts in Datum, Origin, and Measurement

Activity – Back to the Drawing Board Select a model made by others Examine how it looks from different angles, consider how to change its proportion to make it looks better to you Make a A4 outline perspective drawing of your revised design

Discussion One can judge the aesthetic quality of a form by very rough (sketchy) model Cut-and-paste construction is quicker and easier than carving

Activity – Geometrical Form Make a technical drawing of your form on A4 paper Put down all necessary dimensions so that others can sculpt an exact copy according to your drawing The dimensioning should help others to use cut- and-paste construction method

Activity – Making Copies Study the drawings you received Sculpt the form according to your drawing If you as a sculptor need further information, ask the ‘designer’ of the form If you as a ‘designer’ need to take measurement of your form, check-out your form from the instructor, measure the dimension and put it down in RED on your drawing
