Anchor to LAO Lab Experiments Agenda for this discussion: 1.Role of a MOAO testbed 2.Improved results on LAO MCAO/MOAO testbed / verification of tomography error 3.Guidelines for scaling test parameters 4.On-axis / Off-axis error budget

Primary MOAO testbed deliverables Verify untested/theoretical terms in WF error budget for several key cases Uncover hidden errors and concerns (several examples after tour) Feedback to optical design and cost estimates Demonstrate feasibility of key technologies What NOT to look for: Extensive trade studies with variation of many related parameters

Finding tomography error Error budget terms are modeled with simulation or verified empirically Strategy: 1.Measure Strehl with all atmosphere at the ground 2.Derive fitting error, aliasing error, DM open-loop error, and other terms 3.Measure Strehl with an MOAO-type open-loop correction utilizing LTAO with distributed atmosphere 4.Difference in Strehls due to tomography error and scintillation

Response of tomography to wavefront error
