Amazing Energy

What Is Energy ? Energy is the power to change things. It is the ability to do work.

HEAT ! Conducting helps heat move from one place to the other. Insulating means keeping the warmth or coldness of something from not moving. Conducting is the opposite of insulating.

Light ! Visible light is made of many different colors. A prism which is a piece of plastic or glass can bend light waves as they move through it.

Sound ! All sounds are caused by vibrations. Sound is a special kind of kinetic or motion energy. Sound waves can travel through gases, liquids and solids.

Motion A rock at the top of a hill has potential energy. A rock rolling down a hill has kinetic energy. A rock at the bottom of a hill has no energy at all.
