Mathematics Types of Triangles By: Jenny Ordonez

There are two ways to classify triangles 1. One way to classify triangles is by looking at the length of their sides. If all the sides of the triangle equal the same length it’s a equilateral triangle. Here is an example of a equilateral triangle

Classifying triangles by the length of their sides. If only two sides are of the same length then you have a isosceles triangle. Here is an example of a isosceles triangle. Notice how both sides labeled “c” are the same length.

Classifying triangles by the length of their sides If all the sides of the triangle have different lengths then you have a scalene triangle. This is a example of a scalene triangle Notice how all the sides of the triangle have different sides.

Classifying Triangles by their angles angles If a triangle has a angle that measures 90 degrees then it’s a right triangle. Here is an example of a right triangle

Classifying Triangles by their Angles If you have a triangle that has one obtuse angle or a angle that measures more than 90 degrees then you have an obtuse triangle. Here is an example of a obtuse triangle Math Link

Classifying Triangles by their Angles If all the angles of a triangle are less than 90 degrees then the triangle is an acute triangle. Here is an example of a Acute triangle

Review There are two ways to classify triangles You can classify them by the length of their sides You can classify them by their angles
