Bentwood Science Spectacular: A School Wide Science Competition for Grades 2-5

Operation Egg Drop A Study of Gravity The object of this event is to design a package for a raw egg so that it can be dropped from the roof of the school without breaking.

Veggie Car Express An Investigation of Motion Your challenge in this event is to design and construct a car from a vegetable that will go the greatest distance only powered by a balloon.

Toy Boat, Toy Boat, Toy Boat Madness A design and engineering challenge The challenge of this event is to design a toy boat using only ten plastic straws and ten inches of plastic wrap that can float while holding 25 pennies without sinking.

Build a Bridge for a Buck Fifty An engineering and construction challenge Your challenge is to design and construct a bridge of straws that will hold a tuna can with 30 nickels insid e.

Bulls Eye Catapult An investigation of mass, force, and motion The object of this event is to design a catapult which will accurately project a lifesaver onto a target.

Spectacular Survival Tips  At home, download and print the events you want to participate in  Turn in your contract on time  Plan ahead and plan early  Use all resources you have available  Do Experimental trials, make changes, and try again  Have your project ready on time and arrive at your scheduled time to the event  Bring extra pieces if needed to the event  Make sure your name(s) is on your projects  Use teamwork if working in a group  All information and contracts are on the BE website

We can all be winners at The STEM Science Spectacular
