The Continuum of Support for Teachers P R E S E R V I C EI N S E R V I C E career stage A CLINICAL UNDERGRAD PATHWAY INTO EDUCATION Partnership with Seattle Community College: UW undergraduates (B.A.) & community college students take common courses in education and have same field experiences Summer transition program to ensure success of community college students entering the university Completion of an education minor TEACHER EDUCATION PROGRAMS Elementary MIT Secondary MIT  4 quarters 4 quarters of clinical field experience INDUCTION: YEARS 1 & 2 High-quality mentoring for each graduate to include: an experienced mentor teacher PROFESSIONAL GROWTH OR NATIONAL BOARD CERTIFICATION For permanent certification, 15 credits to include: A self-assessment Subject-matter inquiry with UW research projects Online seminars OR National Board Certification PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT YEARS 6+ PhD for teacher educators Ed.D. in Teacher Leadership
