AIM: What is PTSD?

GROUP DISCUSSION:THINK, PAIR, SHARE  Define Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.  Discuss your opinions with your group members

DEFINITIONS  Stress: mental, emotional, or physical strain caused by; anxiety, worry, concern  Trauma: an extremely distressing experience that causes severe emotional shock and may have long-lasting psychological effects  PTSD: Post-traumatic stress disorder is a type of anxiety disorder that's triggered by a traumatic event. You can develop PTSD when you experience or witness an event that causes intense fear, helplessness or horror.

PTSD CAUSES  Discuss for a moment with your group the causes.  Share with the class what your GROUP feels are the causes for PTSD.
