Teacher Tidbits/Reading Report Fifth Grade’s Ms. Brodt wants to remind students that they should have at least 5 books read with book reports by the end of this grading period. Also, she says “Great Job” to the fifth graders on their Theme 1 projects. She enjoyed the presentations. The K-Team says to Kindergarten parents: We are having a great time in Kindergarten! Kindergarten is working on learning to count, write and identify numbers in math. In reading, we are blending letter sounds together to make words. Please continue to check back packs daily and review school work with your child. And from Fifth Grade’s Ms. White: students must complete 7 book reports in the new nine weeks to meet their 25-book standard goal. Please encourage students to read over the Thanksgiving holiday and winter break. It is that time of year! We are looking for donations of Kleenex and hand sanitizer. We Won’t Let Up! November is the time of year to be thankful. We at Shaffer Elementary are thankful for our wonderful students! All classes are making progress. Recent data indicates that more than half of our Primary students are leading in Reading and Math. Students scored Proficient or Advanced in both areas. Intermediate students are working to improve their Reading and Math Skills. Fourth grade excelled in Reading Comprehension on their most recent 4 Sight Benchmark Tests. In Math, fourth grade excelled in Algebraic Concepts. Go mathematicians!!! Fifth grade students excelled in Reading and Analyzing Literature on their 4 Sight Benchmark Tests. Their best Math scores were in Numbers and Operations. Sixth Grade scored the highest in Reading Comprehension. Their highest Math scores were in Data Analysis and Probability. Keep up the good work! Thank you Mrs. Romito for this exciting report!!!
