Linda R. Coney – 24th April 2009 MOM Update Linda R. Coney 7 September, 2009

Linda R. Coney – 7 Sept 2009 Outline  Target  Taking Data/Operations  Documentation  Electrical  Continued Run Plan  …..

Linda R. Coney – 7 Sept 2009 Target Operations & Data Taking  See information by Paul Hodgson, Chris Booth, Paul Smith  Many congratulations on a very well done job!  Thanks to Malcolm for getting everything ready to run!  Ran 12 hours Saturday & 16 hours Sunday  Used 11,803 target pulses  Target operation studies u Searching for ideal timing wrt ISIS cycle u Searching for ideal depth into beam u Found edge of beam at injection for purposes of understanding what we need to avoid on the outswing of our target u Took data with modified voltages  Beam loss vs Particle Rate study u Fix target timing and adjust dip depth u Take data at 100 mV, 200 mV, 300 mV, 400 mV, 500 mV beam losses  Pion beam at 333 MeV/c  Proton beam at 333 MeV/c  Muon beam at 252 MeV/c with Decay Solenoid and w/o

Linda R. Coney – 7 Sept 2009 Weekend Data  Run 945 Sept pion beam 333 MeV/c with 400mV losses  protons

Linda R. Coney – 7 Sept 2009 Weekend Data  Run947_Sept062009_piBeam333MeVc_D2up5percent

Linda R. Coney – 7 Sept 2009 Weekend Data  Run950_Sept062009_protonBeam333MeVc_D2nominal

Linda R. Coney – 7 Sept 2009 Decay Solenoid  Muon Beam  Run956_Sept062009_muBeam252MeVc_DS_ON_200pulses (L)  Run957_Sept062009_muBeam252MeVc_DS_OFF_200pulses (R)

Linda R. Coney – 7 Sept 2009 Preliminary: Beam Loss vs Particle Rate Study  first draft,  means of distributions judged by eye, no error calcs, etc  full analysis is to follow  rates of beam loss seem very high because not yet been calibrated to nominals u last time the reduction factor was about 0.4, PH thinks more this time.  unsure at present as to what units have for the GVA1 (why are no units for them, again to be sorted out for full analysis)

Linda R. Coney – 7 Sept 2009 Operations  Rehearsal of running good idea  Updated documentation very helpful u Still need a few updates  Some trips of beamline magnets  DAQ having some trouble with new fADCs u Working to sort this out now  “invalid” alarms constantly going off on alarm handler extremely taxing/annoying

Linda R. Coney – 7 Sept 2009 Other  Documentation  DAQ  Electrical in hall  Installation of PID detectors u Would like TOF1 u KL  What is our run plan for Machine Physics given all that was done this weekend??
