Sisters of the Academy Site Re-Design (Conceptual Model) Cheryl Swanier, Isaac McCray, & Kennard Love

Project Background As it currently stands, the website for the Sisters of the Academy Institute has already undergone a major re-design resulting in a currently non- released website. The previous encarnation of the website had text that was completely unreadable and a color scheme that was not well contrasted with the corresponding text. The re-designed website, however, is a complete overhaul on the old page with a cleaner interface and colorscheme.

Original Site

Curent Test Site (not released)

Our Goals Despite the vast amount of re-design that has already taken place for the website, the members of the project team believed there to be room for further improvements: –The new color scheme makes the text a little unreadable –Navigation and Hyper links were indistinguisable –The Site Banner makes it difficult to change the color scheme if necessary for accessibility Our resulting Website design will consist of a similar layout with the exception of a more readable font. The user will be able to select which page they would like to navigate to by selecting the links located on the left of the web page. These links will be of a contrasting color so it will be easy for the user to identify them as links. Additionally, we intend to create a site banner which would allow us to easily adjust the color scheme for asthetic and accessibility purposes. Our Additional Objectives (due to further client requirements): A biographical page will also be added allowing the user to view members of this organization. The biographical page will organize the members of the organization in alphabetical order. The user can then select a letter from a- z, depending on the first letter of the last name of the member they would like to view.

Template Page

Lexicons LEXICON Home: allows the user to view the main page. Member Biography: tells the user a little background information about the members ofthis organization. About SOTA: Informs the user of SOTA’s goal and commitment. SOTA Model: Informs the user of SOTA’s vision for membership, resources, and finance and resource development. Membership Application: Informs the user of how to obtain an application and the membership dues. SOTA photos: Lets the user view picture from different meetings. Newsletter Highlights: Will tell the user different highlights that is happening. This page is still under construction however. Scenario A user has been viewing the SOTA website for a while. This person is now interested in becoming a member of SOTA, but before she makes that final decision this user would like to know a little about the members of SOTA. The user proceeds to click on the “Member Biographies” navigational link. From there the visitor would choose the link corresponding to the first letter of the member’s last name. Afterwards, the user will click the link corresponding to the person’s name which will ultimately lead to the Biographical information on the selected Member.
