PEER REVIEW DAY

WRITER Read through your paper once. The back of your paper, list (a) what you believe your strengths are on this draft, and (b)what you want your reviewer to specifically assess this time and why.

EXCHANGE PAPERS Reviewer: Read through their paper completely once. As you read try to pick out the thesis statement and the topics for each body paragraph. Underline them. If there are any errors that jump out at you mark them. If there are any places in the paper where the wording or the ideas are confusing, mark these areas by writing a question mark in the margin. Once you have finished, use what you believe their thesis and topic sentences are to fill out the outline provided. Answer the other questions about the paper in the outline provided.

REVIEWER On the BACK of the outline answer these questions about their paper: 1.Write a sentence describing your initial response 2.Read through the reverse outline and comment on the organization of the paper (should they rearrange the paragraphs, remove any, add any? Explain why or why not). 3.Does each paragraph relate back to the thesis? If not, which ones? 4.Do the body paragraphs each have a unique topic? 5.Look back at the prompt. Does the thesis statement in some form present an argument that answers the prompt? Is there some way you think they could improve this? 6.Write at least two full sentences about what you liked about this paper. 7.Write at least two full sentences about where you think this paper could improve.

REVIEWER Highlight every time the author uses a direct quote or paraphrase. For each citation, evaluate whether it was used effectively. Write directly on paper. If there are no mistakes, just highlight the quote, paraphrase, or summary. a) Is the author introduced (full name and title of work the first mention)? b) Did your peer use a parenthetical citation for each citation? c) Is the quote or paraphrase explained and tied back to the main idea of the paragraph?

AS A GROUP Go through all the comments you made on the paper and ask your peer if you addressed the questions they had at the beginning and give any additional feedback.
