MARC coding—Indicators and punctuation—MARC tags 730/740 n 1 st indicator—non-filing characters u Use 0 and omit initial articles n 2 nd indicator—type of entry u Usually blank in 730 u 2 nd indicator 2 used most with 740 F Use when the entry is contained in the work being described n Ending punctuation for both is period (.)
