Explain strengths and limitations of a qualitative approach to research

Strengths More holistic approach to understanding behavior. Less open to researcher bias because it is NOT driven by a hypothesis. Provides rich and interesting data. Explain strengths and limitations of a qualitative approach to research

Strengths Great for understanding more complex human behaviors (such as human relationships or mental health issues). People are studied in their own environment which increases validity. Explain strengths and limitations of a qualitative approach to research What is more interesting to know…. What demographic is most likely to commit suicide (Quantitative) What are the warning signs, what are suicidal people thinking, what are steps that we can take to stop it (Qualitative).

Limitations Time consuming. Generates A LOT of data which can be difficult to analyze. Interpretation of data may be highly subjective. Explain strengths and limitations of a qualitative approach to research
