Cutting Out Your Skimmer PLTW: Design and Modeling

Note!!! You must pass the Scissor Safety Quiz in order to move on to these steps.

You have your skimmer drawn out and it should look something like this You have your skimmer drawn out and it should look something like this. Now it is time to cut it out.

What you will need: Drawn Skimmer and Scissors.

Step 1: Cut out the Main Body Panel. Follow the green lines.

Cutting

This is what is will look like detached from the rest of the folder.

Step 2: Now time to make two more cuts to the Main Body Panel indicated by the green lines.

Moving on to the fins.

Step 3: Cut along the green lines, cutting out the two fins.

Step 4: Now cut on the line that connects the two fins.

Fins cut apart.

Now to finally cut the Air Scoop.

Step 5: Cut along the green lines.

Note: When you design your skimmer, be sure you flip to the back and draw on the opposite side. You should not see any marks on this side.
