Investigation: Possible Animals Open your Sources Table (Sources folder) You need to conduct research to decide upon a maximum of 2 animals for your shelter You must record EVERY website you use for research in the Sources Table – even if you do not use it for your final answer. Red = example Write your answers in black.

Which animals will your shelter care for? Open Activity1_Review from Activity 1 folder You will write your decision in the above question box. TASK (10 mins): Decide upon your animal/s. NB. You will need to conduct extensive research so ensure your animals are ones which are not too obscure. Record everything in Sources Table Rules & Regulations Animal Welfare Act 2006 Temperatures e.g. in some catteries each run has its own thermostat Health & Safety e.g. cat litter has to be collected as hazardous waste Google animal shelters rules and regulations pet shop local pet shop  this will help with cost and requirements too Record everything in Sources Table

Designing the database Open MS Excel Save in Activity 1 folder and call it Survey Results Collect results logically so that you can produce graphs from it EXAMPLE – think about how you would produce a pie chart to show how many people belong to different age ranges

Giving accurate feedback Mark band 1 They have carried out a limited review of their work but with few modifications. Mark band 2 They have reviewed their work and made modifications some of which are effective. Mark band 3 They have reviewed and modified their work throughout its development, using feedback from others to improve the outcomes.

Audience & Purpose FEEDBACK CHECKPOINT Get feedback about both of your designs from teacher and test buddy so you can choose which one should be final. Original 2 colours (different shades of same colour allowed) White background Purpose: provide visual link between products & give shelter an identity An appropriate font – it has the right personality or character Colour that communicates the company’s values – e.g. serious or upbeat and dynamic A good layout – font size and the surrounding area are well proportioned A simple design – perhaps just type or a very simple, graphic image Easy to reproduce in different sizes and backgrounds, in print or on screen

Export your logo Open your Logo in Fireworks File  Export Wizard Continue  Continue  Exit Make sure jpeg or gif is selected from the drop down menu on the top left Click Export Make sure you call your file Logo Save it in your Activity 1 folder Cut and paste you other logo into the Other folder Cut and paste you Fireworks version of your logo to the Other folder

Starting the web banner Find a minimum of 2 pictures from the Internet that you want to use in your web banner Save them with a meaningful name in your Other folder Record these websites and pictures in your sources table – this time you are using the bottom half

Recording images & assets Open your Sources Table (Sources folder) You must record EVERY image/asset you use for in the Sources Table Primary – you own the copyright Secondary – someone else owns the copyright Red = example Write your answers in black.
