Grammaire P.258 : Negative expressions Ne…rien (nothing) and ne…pas encore (not yet) are placed around the conjugated verb, just like ne…pas, ne…plus, and ne…jamais. * je ne peux rien entendre. Ça n’a pas encore commencé. When you use ne…personne in the passé composé, persomme immédiately follows the past participle Elle n’a rencontré personne au cinéma.

Negative expressions (cont.) Notice the placement of rien and personne when they are used as subjects: Personne ne regarde la télé. Rien n’est tombé Notice the placement of ne…aucun(e) (no, not any), ne…ni…ni…(either…nor…), and ne…nulle part (nowhere): je n’ai aucune change. II n’aime ni les feuilletons ni les drames.
