Presentation transcript:

Gramática: Noun Adjective Agreement in Spanish Adjectives describe nouns. Like articles, they match the gender of the noun they describe. In English, adjectives go before the noun. Example: The small dog

In Spanish, adjectives almost always go after the noun. Ejemplo: El perro pequeño (the dog small) This change will be hard for you at first, but you will just have to get used to it ☻!

Masculine adjectives usually end in “o”. Ejemplo: El chico alto.- The tall boy.

Feminine adjectives usually end in “a”. Ejemplo: La chica alta.- The tall girl.

Most adjectives that end with “e” match both genders. Ejemplos: El chico inteligente. La chica inteligente.

Most adjectives that end with a consonant also match both genders. Ejemplos: El chico joven. La chica joven.

Sometimes you have to add an “a” to the adjective to make it feminine. Ejemplos: El chico trabajador.- hardworking La chica trabajadora.

Plural adjectives If the noun is singular, then the adjective is singular. La camisa amarilla es bonita. Additionally, unlike English, in Spanish, if the noun is plural, the adjective must be plural also. The yellow shirts are pretty. Las camisas amarillas son bonitas.

Práctica…….

Translate: The tall girl is nice. La chica alta es simpatica. The short boy is good-looking. El chico bajo es guapo. The old houses are pretty. Las casas viejas son bonitas. The big dogs are funny. Los perros grandes son comicos. The organized (girl) student is intelligent. La estudiante organizada es inteligente.
