BIO studied at the Lille Conservatory Studied under Massenet (french composer) at the Paris Conservatoire, where he won the Prix de Rome in founded the Conservatoire Populaire de Mimi Pinson (free school of music and classical dance for working people)

Operas and other works Louise (1900)– opera Julien (1913)– opera Impressions d'Italie (1892)—orchestral suite Les Impressions fausses (1895)– voice and orchestra Chant d'Apothéose (1902)—written for the Victor Hugo centenary. Didon (1887)– cantata that won him the Prix de Rome La Vie du poète (1892)— cantata Fête du couronnement de la Muse (later used in Louise)– symphonic drama Sérénade à Watteau (1896)—for voice and orchestra
