En Séptimo grado... Me gustacomerI like to eat Te gusta comerYou like to eat Le gusta comerHe/She likes to eat What they really say is: To eat pleases me.Me = me To eat pleases you.Te = you To eat pleases him/her.Le = him/her

Nos gusta correrwe like to run *To run pleases us Os gusta correr Les gusta correrThey like to run *to run pleases them Y’all like to run *to run pleases y’all

In each example gusta does not change. The verb that is “liked” stays infinitive. There are many expressions in Spanish that work exactly the same way. Me gustaríaMe encantaría Me encantame fascina Me fastidiame molesta Me importame aburre Me interesame falta Me queda

A Ignacio le interesa aprender música nueva. A mí me aburre escuchar música Rap. A tí te queda hacer 2 preguntas de la tarea. A Juan le falta ganar (earn) 10 dólares.

But…. What if I want to tell that I like some THING rather than an action or activity? P. Ej: I like pizza.I like apples.

Remember: the actual LITERAL meaning is: Pizza pleases me.Apples please me. SO…… What we need to do is….

Vary the conjugation of gusta. I like Pizza. Or Pizza pleases me. Pizza is SINGULAR so gusta stays gusta. Me gusta la pizza. ( instead of me gusta comer pizza)

I like apples. Or Apples please me. Apples is PLURAL. Instead of using gusta which is the singular form of the verb, I should use ______________?

I like apples. Or Apples please me. Apples is PLURAL. Instead of using gusta which is the singular form of the verb, I should use gustan. Me gustan las manzanas. (Me gusta comer las manzanas.)

DISLIKES! To say you DON’T like something: Just add NO before me, te, le, nos, or les A mí no me gusta la piña, pero me encantan las uvas.
