gustar with infinitives p. 86

En inglés In English, infinitives do not have any special endings, but they almost always have the word to in front of them. to play to run to write In Spanish, infinitives always end in -ar,-er, or –ir: jugarjugar correr escribir correrescribir jugarcorrerescribir

An infinitive tells the meaning of the verb without naming any subject or tense. There are three kinds of infinitives in Spanish: those ending in -ar, those ending in -er, and those ending in -ir. -ar infinitives -er infinitives -ir infinitives cantar to sing comer to eat escribir to write

Just like nouns, infinitives can be used after a verb like gustar to say what you and others like to do. Me gusta la música. I like music. Me gusta cantar. I like to sing.

Always use gusta (not gustan) with infinitives. Me gustan los deportes. I like sports. Me gusta jugar al tenis. Me gusta jugar al tenis. I like to play tennis.

Vamos a practicas Gustos p. 86 Hablemos (let’s talk) Based on the things Carlos and his friends like, what activities do you think they like to do?
