Adjetivos en español  Every noun in Spanish has both GENDER and NUMBER. You must be sure that the adjective paired up with each noun MATCH both GENDER and NUMBER with the noun they are working with.  Adjectives typically come AFTER the noun they are describing.

Adjetivos con SER  The C of DOCTOR: CHARACTERISTICS  Use adjectives with SER to describe personality and physical characteristics that are part of what make up the person (essential qualities)  EXAMPLES:  Soy alto.  Ella es feliz.  Ellos son morenos.

Ajetivos con ESTAR:  The C of PLACE: CONDITION  The E of PLACE: EMOTIONS  Use adjectives with ESTAR to describe how someone is feeling right now or a temporary condition of a person/thing.  EXAMPLES:  Estoy feliz.  Estás enojado.  Estamos preocupados.

SER vs. ESTAR: Ajetivos  Some adjectives change meaning based on if they are used with SER or ESTAR.  With SER they are a personality or physical characteristic that is more or less unchanging.  With ESTAR they are used as emotions or conditions that could change over time.

Ejemplos:  Aburrido  SER: to be boring  ESTAR: to be bored  Listo  SER: to be smart  ESTAR: to be ready  Malo  SER: to be bad  ESTAR: to be sick  Orgulloso  SER: to be conceited/vain  ESTAR: to be proud  Moreno  SER: to be dark skinned  ESTAR: to be tan
