Hélène MAINAUD DURAND| SU pendant LS1 day| | INDICO | page 2 Activities CLIC LAMBDA project (Laser Alignment Multi-Based Design Approach) Development of cam movers & mini cam movers Dimensional control and fiducialisation Feasability & technical design (absolute sensors, PACMAN project) Integration and compatibility with other systems Development and qualification of linear actuators Knowledge of static geoid, development and validation of a deflectometer MDI area
Hélène MAINAUD DURAND| SU pendant LS1 day| | INDICO | page 3 How? A strategy has been proposed for the Conceptual Design Report. Now we need to validate it experimentally: Validation of sensors and actuators on dedicated test benches Validation and improvement of strategy on dedicated mock-ups Development of new test area over 500m in TZ32. Test benches

Hélène MAINAUD DURAND| SU pendant LS1 day| | INDICO | page 8 Main problem
Hélène MAINAUD DURAND| SU pendant LS1 day| | INDICO | page 9 Conclusion A lot of studies concerning CLIC are under progress With a significant number of urgent tasks Main problem: electronic workshop and calibration lab non available for CLIC studies during LS1 (and in a smaller proportion the mechanical workshop) for: Training Expertise Prototypes Calibration of sensors, temperature probes,... Installation of alignment systems, acquisition systems, cables,... Software More stable R&D team needed, not to lose expertise each time a fellow or project associate leaves. CLIC project is only a pretext, all the developments performed will be applied to ease the aligmnent of future machines.
