INVESTIGATION SECTION: (to be completed within 2 lessons) (This is what is required of you in a word document) Identify the Problem. 1. Examine the problem in terms of AOI. By demonstrating your understanding of how the AOI relates to the design problem. 2. Model your Ideas as to what technology would you use to prevent global warming? AOI – ENVIRONMENTS - ATL- Information Literacy, Collaborative and reflection skills

Research on ways technology has developed to Control global warming. 1.What causes Global Warming? 2.Is there really a cause for serious concern? 3.What can I do to help fight global warming? AOI – ENVIRONMENTS - ATL- Information Literacy, Collaborative and reflection skills

Write a Design Brief. Design Brief. The Design Brief is a short statement of what you are going to make, why you are going to make it, and for whom you are making it for. It should be an open ended statement ( words at least) AOI – ENVIRONMENTS - ATL- Information Literacy, Collaborative and reflection skills

DESIGN SPECIFICATION The Design Specification is the most crucial element of the Investigate phase of the Design Cycle. A good Design Specification should include information that you learned about the task/problem from your research. It is a list of requirements that your design ideas must meet plus a list of constraints that you have. It is the check list that you need to use when you start to make your design ideas.requirementsconstraints

After your research you can develop a Design Specification. This will tell you: The Audience- Who you are designing for (who will see/buy the product) Objective - What the successful design must do: This is a description of what the solution will accomplish. It could indicate how well the solution is expected to work or under what conditions it will work Production - o What it should look like? o Tools needed to make the product. o Time needed to complete the pro duct Usage - How it will be used?

INVESTIGATE SECTION- Structure to be followed:  AOI – ENVIRONMENTS  ATL – Information Literacy and Collaborative Reflection skills  Identify the problem (paragraph 5-7 lines)  Solution (Design Brief)(Paragraph 5-7 lines)  Research Material (2 pages at least)  Design Specification (Listing out what you intend to do)

Please refer to the website below to help you guide through the project: AOI – ENVIRONMENTS - ATL- Information Literacy, Collaborative and reflection skills LQ: How can good sketches (Designs) of the model help in completing the task?

Criteria – B: Design Section You are expected to create two individual designs of the model that you intend to make justifying them against the design specifications. You must then choose one design from your group and write a paragraph explaining why you chose it. You must make sure the design you have chosen is detailed and all members of the group must have a copy of the same along with the individual designs.. LQ: How can good sketches (Designs) of the model help in completing the task?

AOI - ENVIRONMENTS

Criteria – C: PLAN Section Planning is a crucial part of the whole design process. You should have a: Production Plan : Step by step guide for creating that could be followed. Use some drawings to illustrate construction. Indicate tools/equipment/skills needed. LQ: How can good planning help you in completing the task?

A Materials List (type of material, size, number required) Plan your Time. Include a Timeline as to how long you would take to complete each task. Example shown below:Timeline Task to completeTimeTime taken to complete Completed the task or not Complete PLAN by next Sunday
