Constitution A body of fundamental principles or established examples according to which a state or other organization is acknowledged to be governed.

 Enumerated powers are powers that are expressly granted to the federal government it is located in Article 1 Sec8.  Enumerated Example: The constitution says you can vote.  Enumerated Real Life Example: Paul tells us we have to tuck in our shirts.

 Implied powers are not specifically granted to the federal government by the constitution.  Implied Example: The constitution does not tell us how to vote.  Implied Real Life Example: They don’t tell us how to tuck in our shirts or when to tuck them in. Implied Powers

The legislative branch can introduce and repeal laws and is the only authority able to approve planned laws, although the constitution of many jurisdictions allow persons or agencies of the executive branch to propose laws. The 1 st amendment of the United States Constitution protects the right to freedom of religion, speech, assembly, press, and petition Example: Tinker v. Des Moines (1969) Petitioners, three public school pupils in Des Moines, Iowa, were suspended from school for wearing black armbands to protest the Government's policy in Vietnam. They sought minor damages and an order against a regulation that the respondents had announced banning the wearing of armbands. The District Court dismissed the complaint on the ground that the regulation was within the Board's power, despite the absence of any finding of substantial interference with the conduct of school activities. Their right were violated due to the 1 st amendment saying freedom of speech. Bill of Rights

How does the Bill of Rights protect individuals? The Bill of Rights protects individuals in many ways. The Bill of Rights are made to give us citizens a certain type of freedom, but with control as well. The 1 st amendment is a good example of this.
