SEEDS AND SEEDS LESSON-5

Seeds are of different shapes, sizes, colours and textures.

Some seeds have only one seeds while others have a number of seeds

Some seeds have only one seeds while others have a number of seeds

Seeds are used as spices, food grains, pulses.

Some plants can grow without seeds MONEYPLANT ROSE BOGAINVILLAE

There are somep plants which trap and eat frogs, insects and mice There are somep plants which trap and eat frogs, insects and mice. The pitcher plant(Nepenthse) is one such plant .It is found in Australia, Indonesia and Meghalaya in India.

SEED DISPERSAL BY WIND Seeds are light. They are flown from one place to another by wind. Some seeds have hair and wings over their covering. They help them to fly long distances.

DISPERSAL BY WIND

Seeds dispersal by water Some seeds grow near a river, lake and sea. Their fruits or seeds fall into water and carried away over long distances.

Seeds Dispersal by birds, animals and human beings. Animals, birds and human beings after eating a fruits and vegetables, generally leave behind or throw away the seeds present inside them. These seeds either grow into a plant there itself or carried from one place to another by wind and water. Some seeds are not digestible, so the birds and animals pass out these seeds in their droppings at different places. These seeds get dispersed. Some seeds have hook and spies They stick to the body of the animals or to the people’s clothings and are carried to different places
