I dreamed of a young bird, stretching her wings, gathering courage for her first flight Click screen or right arrow to continue show

My heart fluttered with excitement for her. She lifted her beak, looked me in the eye, and folded her wings away. “Maybe tomorrow,” I whispered, and I felt her relief.

Not today. Maybe tomorrow. Autumn leaves fell around my feet.

Bare trees lined the horizon. How would she survive the winter if she didn’t fly soon?

That’s when he appeared. My dream soul mate, eyes radiating such deep, deep love.

If I were a bird, I would open my wings and fly to him right now

I awoke from my dream. And searched for my soul mate, in places where birds nest and fly…

In bird watching circles, in forests, in parks, on the internet, at airports…

His face was etched on my mind from my dream. Where was he?

One day I tried a different approach. I carried him in my heart

Wherever I went, whatever I did, I acted as if we were one.

I drew on his confidence when I felt unsure. I tapped into his guidance when I felt lost.

I felt his love for me … and I found love for myself

By spring I was a different person. I had confidence, direction. I stopped procrastinating

I knew I could fly as high and as far as I wished. So I did.

I moved in different circles. And that’s where I met my soul mate.

He looked nothing like the soul mate in my dream

He was the perfect match for the new me
