How to write a book report By Erika Hankins

First step: Choose a book Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin Frankenstein by Mary Shelley Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare

Step two: make an outline for your report Topic overview –Subheading 1 ◊Subpoint 1 ◊Subpoint 2 Insert your own main ideas to create an outline for your chosen book to turn in with your report. Create your outline using this example:

Finding other sources Having one or two more sources for your book report is not required….but recommended. Try searching the internet for relevant sources such as Google!Google! Or head over to the local library

Now gather your information to begin writing your rough draft! Tips to get started Organize your notes, outline, and other sources Try to work on the paper a little at a time….don’t put it off until the last minute Click on the picture above for a review of how to create an outline!

After completing the rough draft….. Bring two copies of your draft to class, along with notes and outline. Peer review will be conducted during class time to help you edit and revise your draft Turn in one copy to me for my reviewing as well.

Things to remember when editing and revising During peer review, use constructive criticism, but don’t be mean Check grammar, spelling and language usage If you used additional sources, don’t forget to include a works cited page, using the MLA format found in your textbook

Hang in there…..you’re almost done!!! The hard part is already over….with just a few steps left, the process will be complete!

When its time to turn it in…… Gather all of your previous drafts, include your outline and notes as well Don’t forget to also include your peer review sheet Make sure your final draft is complete and ready to be graded

Congratulations!!! You have just successfully written your first book report, now sit back and relax for a few days until you get them back!!!! Click the home button to go back to the first slide!
