Online Math Programs for Elementary Students Melissa Clark University of New England Technology in Inclusion Settings EDU 721 June 23, 2013

Rationale We all are aware of how technology has enriched the way educators instruct their students. Online games and apps that teachers have available to them to aid in teaching continues to grow at a steady rate. Math is a subject that has a vast selection of free or reasonably priced resources. Programs vary from basic math to calculus and beyond. They have sound effects, colorful and entertaining graphics and can be adjusted for all levels of learning. Students can move freely around the programs and not only learn math skills but gain independence and self confidence. 2

Math is Fun Math is Fun is a website that strives on making math amusing and enlightening for students to learn in grades K-12. It is categorized by grade levels as well as specific math topics. Students can print out math tools to help them, interactive quizzes to check on the students understanding of the skills being learned. The site also has an illustratrated math dictionary to assist students, worksheets to print, games, puzzles and a forum to ask questions. The site is designed by mathameticians and math teachers.

Many opportunities to achieve success. Creates independence and self confidence. Clear and concise instructions and examples. Students are learning while having fun. AAA Math AAA Math is a fabulous site to provide support for students in math. It is free and covers grades K-8. It is broken down into specific topics to target the skills students need extra practice in. A wide range of topics are covered and immediate feedback is provided to enhance student learning. The site offers brain training games to help improve your memory, timed drills to help increase speed, sodoku games and a math definitions and examples. This site can also be translated to Spanish.

Fun Brain Fun Brain is a free learning site that offers many math activities for preschool through middle school students. It is categorized by grade level and then into easy, medium, hard and super brain level. The games are designed to help students build upon skills previously learned in class. The site never collects any personal information from children as this helps keep the site safe.

In your search engine type in free math games or help in math and you will be provided with an over- whelming number of responses. Take some time to browse through them to find the ones that meet your needs. They range from pre- school through college and for those who just need a refresher in specific topics.
