Grand Wailea’s Conservation Achievements Won the 7th annual “Investing in the Environment” Award Focused on: Energy Efficiency - recycles kitchen oil refined into diesel fuel and used to power its minibus Landscape Conservation/Waste Management - uses restrictors on facets, toilets & showers In-house 150 kW co-generation: powers the Bistro restaurant heats water at the Spa Grande and pools
Sheraton Hotels HECO 2002 Multiple Facilities Winner Launched efficiency improvement projects at 3 of their hotels - Sheraton Princess Kaiulani: replaced 2 old centrifugal chillers with 1 high efficient 400 ton chiller - Sheraton Waikiki: installed window film in all rooms which reduced solar heat gain - Sheraton Moana Surfrider: installed an energy management control system in each room connected to a central monitoring system For all 3 properties: - Annual energy savings: $88,000 - Annual kWh reduction: 3% - HECO rebate: $58,000
Fairmont Hotels & Resorts Green Partnership Program Green Partnership Phase I - Energy Conservation: Retrofit all appropriate lighting from incandescent to compact fluorescent bulbs. - Water Conservation: Install water efficient shower heads & tap aerators. Replace all toilets that flush more than 2 gallons per flush. Have optional towel and sheet exchange programs. - Waste Management: Annually divert thousands of pounds of materials such as glass, aluminum, plastic, newspaper, cardboard & compost. Donate used amenities to local shelters & charities. - Purchasing: Purchase unbleached kraft & recycled paper. Replace aerosol products with ozone-friendly alternatives. Suppliers provide organically grown fruits & vegetables.
