Tara Mobasseri

 I did my extended inquiry project on the negative impact of technology on youth because it is currently a growing problem in our society. Also I was curios about the extreme of the physical and emotional effect it has on people.

 My audience is teenagers and their parents because the teens actually go through this problem and parents try to solve it.  My purpose for this project was to inform people about the negative influence it has on children and find ways to fix it.  My topic was on the negative effects that technology has on youth in this generation. I chose this topic because I have personally witnessed many of my friends and family get caught up in this kind of life style and wanted to find ways to solve this problem.  I chose PowerPoint to present this topic because I personally am a very visual person and PowerPoint allowed me to set my project the way I wanted to with all the pictures that I felt were necessary.

 Cell phones (Iphone)  TV  Ipad  iPod  Video games  Computer/laptops Etc…

 The repetitive action of texting so quickly with our fingers can cause tendonitis which is when tendons become inflamed, Irritated or suffer from microscopic tears.  Constantly looking down at our technology devices causes bad posture, neck and also back problems. Eyestrain can also cause headaches, blurred vision and migraines.  Having headphones in our ears most of the time can cause hearing loss over time. As well as, damaging the eyes by looking at our screen devices at all times.

 Obesity has become a big issue today also, and one main reason is with technology expanding people are becoming lazier and are spending less time being active and exercising.

 With the improvement of technology in the modern world people are starting to forget how to have real face-to-face conversations and tend to communicate more through their devices. Unfortunately We are slowly creating a life online and detaching ourselves from reality.

 Bullying online has been increasing through technology.  Both physical and emotional bullying happens online which has caused many suicides and deaths.  cases/ cases/

 The internet has taken away the world of privacy. The average person can find someone's personal information very easily theses days with just a few clicks on a keyboard.  People especially teenagers tend to put everything on their social media. Not knowing how dangerous it could be. Phishing, viruses and hacking are ways in which people can get into your system and find any information they wish to obtain.

 Addiction to media has a significant impact on an individual’s life and it comes with many side effects. Just a few of the symptoms one can have by being addicted to media are depression, strained vision, sleep disturbances, and obvious weight gain and loss

Parents should: set a time limit for their children to be online. There are many apps these days which automatically shuts off the device after s certain amount of time. Help children choose outdoor activities over technology. National unplugging day is a day dedicated to being outdoors and being active. Set aside reading time. The wii fit, which is a wireless motion detector game that picks up on every move is also a new and fun way to have children be more active.
