SmarTeam tricks & tips The different "Check-Out" possibilities: - I can save any modification during work - The other users know that I'm performing some modifications - No one else can do some modifications at the same time - If I'm not sure to keep the modifications… Reminder: Why is it so important to check-out as soon as possible, and before performing any modification ? Before Check-In, it is still possible to cancel the modifications using " Undo Check-Out" command. I am also able to delete the Checked Out Documents in SmarTeam. 3

SmarTeam tricks & tips The different "Check-Out" possibilities: Reminder 2: What is this option in the launcher? This option changes deeply the behavior of SmarTeam Checked-Out functions. By default, each time a Check-Out is performed on a Drawing / Product, the children are switched to their latest revision. 4

Customized check out possible but no smart behavior. Life Cycle \ Check-Out The same as above but running from SmarTeam. No possibility to open at the same time the documents in Catia V5. Smart Check Out \ Check-Out (+ Open) The easiest and fastest way to modify a Part or a Product. In this latest case, the direct children will be updated. Smart Check Out \ Check-Out (+ Dialog) Propagate Operation (+ Open) All the documents (Top Drawing, Parts & Products) I'm responsible for will be checked out and opened if whished. Propagate Operation -> Only when a Child is not latest (+ Open) The hunter of red dots! Only the Products are checked out. The best tool to update an assembly and to open it if whished. 6

SmarTeam tricks & tips Advantage of "Delete CERN" compared to classic "Delete Objects" function Delete CERN: - Objects Multi-selection - No internal links selection verification - Available for any classes of SmarTeam objects (Documents, Items, Projects…) - Object deletion only, not for links removal 7

This "BOM Ordering" tool still needs some final testing. Users should be informed in the next Catia forum. To be continue…

SmarTeam tricks & tips Item Structure Management: Step 3: Reorder or change quantity From the Top Item, go to "Links / Composed of" window and use the "Link Update Command". Run CARTWeb to apply this to the nomenclature. 15

SmarTeam tricks & tips Item Structure Management: Step 4 (optional): Export the BOM From the Top Item, go to "CERN / Excel BOM" to export the nomenclature to a new Excel sheet. You can specify the depth of item levels and include the specification documents (in blue): 16

SmarTeam tricks & tips New "Open" behavior: Since the 10 th of February, the "Open*" function behavior has changed. Reminder : 17 - If you have a Checked Out document, it will never be replaced in the work directory by older versions. - If you have opened a last document version in CATIA, it will never be replaced in your work directory by older versions ->To be able to open a older version you must first clean your work - If you have opened an old version in Catia, it will automatically be replaced in your work directory when you want to open newer versions * Official SmarTeam "Open" Command

SmarTeam tricks & tips New "Open" behavior: Another "Open" command has been internally developed at CERN, called "Open-Multi". Some users are testing this function. 18 The main differences are: 1.As its name indicates, the "Open-Multi" command can open several documents at the same time from SmarTeam. 2.It opens what you select in SmarTeam. It means that you don't have to clean your work to open a older revision of a doc previously opened in Catia. If the test results are convenient with the users expectations, this command could replace the current one.

SmarTeam tricks & tips Removing the CDD information when duplicating a drawing: The CDD number is stored in several places: 3D, Item, 2D, Cartouche… When you save as a drawing in SmarTeam from an existing one, you will have to remove the CDD number in the new profile card and replace it by the "-" character*. Then, from Catia, before Check-In, it is mandatory to remove all the related information (indice, size…) from the cartouche. 19 * This will be automatically done soon…

SmarTeam tricks & tips Removing the CDD information when duplicating a drawing: If the original drawing has an indice A or B… This indice can appear in the TitleBlock of the new copy and cause some troubles when CI, archiving… It exists a command in CARTWeb to remove all the related information to the CDD number from the TitleBlock. 20
